During this session, co-facilitated by the NSTA Professional Learning Team and Tuva, participants will learn how to find and select local data that is instructionally productive, based on their goals for student learning and the data available.

Are you interested in helping students make sense of the phenomena in their communities? Are you looking for ways to incorporate more data in your science classroom? When sensemaking is focused on local phenomena, there are more opportunities to center students’ community and incorporate personal interests. This session is part of a larger conference course, a four-part series of sessions around using local data as evidence in making sense of complex phenomena. Participants may attend a single session, or string all four together for deep, lasting learning.
