Integrating local examples and phenomena into instruction is a natural way to maximize student engagement. And there is huge value in diving into local data to leverage the learning you want to happen in your classrooms. Through hands-on activities and discussions we will explore ways to more effectively use local data in your classroom to support students’ learning engagement, content understanding, and data skills development. Whether you are looking for data, have lots of your own local data, or not even sure where to begin to use local data, come join us as we explore and discuss key aspects of setting ourselves and our students up for success with local data. ##### Workshop Objectives: Following the end of the workshop, participants will be able to... 1. Articulate ways to find local data to better address content topics. 2. Identify how to integrate local, real-world data through Tuva into instruction to increase student engagement. ;;br ##### Workshop Format: Through hands-on activities and reflective discussions we will interactively explore various datasets and data-based activities within Tuva as common learning experiences together to explore various ways that we can leverage data to help our students engage with local phenomena and topics. Additionally, we will build off of our own experiences in the classroom to share lessons learned and brainstorm alternative options around finding, accessing, and using local datasets. ##### Workshop Materials: * [Local Data & Tuva - Using Local Data to Foster the Science Learning You Want](https://support.tuvalabs.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001244173-Local-Data-Tuva-Using-Local-Data-to-Foster-the-Science-Learning-You-Want) ;;br;;br ##### How to Bring This Professional Learning Session to Your School or District: To arrange a workshop for a group of educators from your school or district, reach out to hello@tuvalabs.com.
