Explore how building data skills engages students in practicing science while actively learning science through doing. ##### Audience: Grades 2-12 | Science Teachers ##### Workshop Summary: Data is integral to teaching science. We can use data to support teaching content around what is already known in science, and have the students use data to answer their own questions as they engage scientifically in their learning. Through hands-on activities and discussions we will explore ways to more effectively integrate data skills across all science practices and the process of doing science, aka not just as part of analyzing and interpreting data. We will explore different ways to integrate data into our science instruction across the range of investigating, sensemaking, and critiquing practices. Whether you teach in an NGSS or a non-NGSS state, come join us as we explore and discuss key aspects of helping our students build their data skills as they actively are doing science. ##### Workshop Objectives: Following the end of the workshop, participants will be able to... 1. Articulate how to integrate data into all science practices. 2. Identify ways to leverage Tuva when teaching science content and practices. ;;br ##### Workshop Format: Through hands-on activities and reflective discussions we will interactively explore various datasets within Tuva as common learning experiences together to explore ways to integrate data into and across all aspects of doing science.
