Random Samples and Standard Error (v2)
Lesson
In this tutorial, students explore the Bay Area Science Festival dataset to draw random samples from it and visualize the standard error of the mean.
Random Samples and Standard Error When we draw random samples, the sample mean changes from one sample to another. So how much does it typically vary? The Standard Error of the Mean (SEM) measures that variability. Tuva allows you to generate random samples using the Sampling Card and instantly compute the Standard Error from the Stats menu so you can visualize how sample means vary.
