Lesson 1.1: Data in Science
Lesson
Introduction Our world is full of data, which gives us as educators the amazing job of helping our students learn how to make sense of the data and to tell stories from data. Lesson 1.1 is formatted as a two-part slide deck with opportunities for you to reflect. The slides review what we mean by the term data literacy, provide a few examples of students' efforts to graph and make sense of data, and describe a few sample teaching strategies. It also outlines the objectives for the whole course. You are invited to reflect on what data literacy has looked in your classroom to date, and what future vision for data literacy in your classroom could be. Click Next to begin!
