Fitting Linear Data using the Equation Editor (v2)
Lesson
Fitting Linear Data using the Equation Editor One of the main goals of modeling is finding good values for the parameters of an equation. Parameters are the constants in a function that control its shape and position. For a linear function such as y = mx + b, the parameters m (slope) and b (intercept) determine how steep the line is and where it crosses the y-axis. Tuva’s Equation Editor lets you fit linear models by directly adjusting these parameters. Instead of drawing a line by hand, you can manipulate the equation itself and immediately see how changing parameter values affects the fit of the model. [---cta ⚡ Ready to practice?
