Ask Questions About Coquí
Data Story
In this short data story, students notice and wonder using a map showing observations of three species of coquí. Then, they pick one of their questions to investigate and use it to create a new graph.
Welcome to the data story: Ask Questions About Coquí. Coquí are small tree frogs from Puerto Rico known for their loud two-note call that sounds like "co-quí." Different species live in different places — from lowland forests to mountain cloud forests and even towns and backyards. In this lesson, you'll notice and wonder about where different species of coquí are found. [--- Discuss at least one of these questions with a partner or small group: Have you ever heard a coquí (or other frogs) in your neighborhood at night? How does the place you live (city, suburb, rural, island) shape the kinds of animals you notice? Share one memory or feeling you have about hearing frogs or other night sounds. ---] {alert-discuss} Click Next to get started!
