Reason with Shapes
Data Story
In this lesson, students use Tuva draw tools to identify lines of symmetry in shapes and natural objects.
Symmetry is a part of geometry, nature, and shapes. It shows patterns that help us make sense of our world. A line of symmetry is like a fold line. If you folded the shape over the line all the edges would match up on both sides. [--- Can you find a line of symmetry in the butterfly? In nature, lines of symmetry might not always be perfect. Can you think of why that might be? ---] {alert-think}
