Rain on the River
Data Story
Does rainfall increase the flow rate of a river? Using river gauge data from the Buffalo River in Arkansas, students interpret a scatter plot and determine the strength of the relationship between precipitation and river discharge.
Welcome to this Tuva data story! Buffalo National River flows freely for 135 miles and is one of the few remaining undammed rivers in the lower 48 states. Located in northern Arkansas, the region has four full seasons, greater-than-average rainfall, and less-than-average snowfall compared to the rest of the lower 48 states in the US.
